What is UK ETA
The UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is a new entry requirement introduced by the United Kingdom for travelers who do not need a visa to visit the UK, including U.S. citizens. This digital permit is designed to enhance border security and streamline entry processes.
While U.S. citizens previously could enter the UK visa-free for short stays, the ETA replaces this system by requiring an online application prior to travel. The ETA is not a visa, but a pre-screening mechanism similar to the U.S. ESTA program. It grants permission to board a carrier to the UK.
