Disclaimer: ImmiAssist is online visa agency helping people get their visa when traveling or moving abroad for a fee ranging from 29 to 89 โฌ, depending on the type of the visa and processing time. This fee is charged on top of any government fee applicable to selected visa. All visas can be also obtained directly from the government of your destination.
All visas are the official travel documents granted solely by the relevant local authorities, never by us. Our role is to act as your trusted agent, managing your application on your behalf and handling all communication with the local administration to ensure a smooth and compliant process. We never issue the visa directly.
Arriving in Korea is straightforward and well-signed in English. After you deplane, follow the Arrivals/Immigration signs. Join the โForeign Passportโ queue and have your passport ready, your K-ETA status is usually checked automatically when your passport is scanned, but keep your approval details handy in case an officer asks. You may be asked a few basic questions about your stay (accommodation address, return ticket, purpose of visit). Continue to Baggage Claim to collect your luggage, then proceed through Customs, youโll either submit a quick electronic or paper declaration, or simply walk through the green channel if directed by staff.
Once in the public arrivals hall, youโll find currency exchange, ATMs, SIM/eSIM help desks, and tourist information right away. If you plan to use public transport, pick up a rechargeable T-money or Cashbee card at convenience stores or kiosks. For getting into the city, options include the AREX airport train (express or all-stop) to central Seoul, airport limousine buses to major districts and hotels, taxis (stand queues are organized and metered), and, at Incheon, frequent KTX connections for long-distance travel. Most venues take cards, but having a small amount of cash can be useful for smaller shops.
Before you leave the terminal, double-check your accommodation address (ideally in Korean script for taxi drivers), connect to the free airport Wi-Fi to confirm directions, and set up any local apps youโll use (maps, ride-hailing, translation). Keep your passport and arrival documents accessible for hotel check-in, and hold on to your transport card for easy top-ups throughout your trip. Enjoy your stay!
K-ETA is an electronic pre-screening required for travelers who are already eligible to visit Korea visa-free for short stays (typically tourism, short business, or transit). Itโs not a visa and doesnโt go in your passport, instead, itโs digitally tied to your passport and checked by the airline and immigration on arrival. Itโs meant to streamline entry for short visits and doesnโt change the fact that final admission and length of stay are decided by the immigration officer at the border.
A tourist visa is a formal entry document issued by a Korean embassy or consulate when youโre not eligible for visa-free entry (and thus K-ETA), or when you need a different length/purpose of stay than the visa-waiver allows. Visas usually involve submitting supporting documents (itinerary, finances, accommodation, etc.) and can be single or multiple entry with a defined validity and permitted stay. Unlike K-ETA, a visa can accommodate situations like longer tourism stays or specific visit types, however, it still doesnโt guarantee entry, border officers make the final call.
Here are the big gotchas with K-ETA to keep in mind. First, approvals are usually processed within about 72 hours, but it can take longer, so donโt cut it close. The fee isย non-refundable even if refused. An approved K-ETA is valid for 3 years (or until your passport expires) and can be used for multiple entries. If your passport is reissued or your criminal/infectious-disease information changes, you must apply again; if your travel info (address, contact, arrival date) changes, update it on the site to avoid problems on arrival. Having K-ETA also lets you skip the arrival card, which speeds up immigration.
Most entry snags come from mismatched passport details, typos in the number or name order, missing middle names, or MRZ quirks. Some passports (e.g., certain Malaysian formats) can auto-fill both names into the โsurnameโ field when scanned, double-check fields before submitting. Also, airlines check K-ETA before boarding, if you donโt have a valid approval when required, you can be denied check-in. If wrong or false info was entered, approval can be refused or canceled and youโll likely need to submit a new application with the correct data.
