Kenya travel visa
Kenya has replaced its former visa model with an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system, effective January 1, 2024. Travelers from most countries must apply online ahead of their trip—submissions are accepted up to 90 days in advance and should be made at least 3 days before departure. This digital pre‑authorization streamlines entry: once approved, visitors simply present their eTA and passport at immigration upon arrival. Visitors from East African Community (EAC) partner states—like Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Burundi, and DR Congo—are exempt from this requirement.
The eTA covers short‑term tourist stays (up to 90 days, with single‑entry validity), and applications must include personal details, travel dates, proof of accommodation or an invitation, and a valid passport with at least six months’ remaining validity. On arrival, standard entry rules apply—including presenting yellow fever vaccination certificates if arriving from an endemic region and showing proof of onward travel .
